Porcelain Veneers in Midtown Manhattan
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front of the teeth. They can change the color, shape, length, and alignment of your visible teeth, and are one of the main tools Dr. Alexander Heifitz uses to design a new smile.
Who is a good candidate?
Veneers may be a good option if you have:
- Stains or discoloration that whitening does not improve
- Chipped, worn, or uneven teeth
- Small gaps or mildly crooked teeth
Your teeth and gums need to be healthy first. Heavy grinding or clenching can affect veneers, so we check for it and may recommend a night guard.
What to expect
- Cosmetic consultation. We talk about what you would like to change and examine your teeth, gums, and bite.
- Smile design. Your new smile is planned in detail so you can see and discuss the result before treatment.
- Preparation. A thin layer of enamel is usually removed from the front of each tooth so the veneer sits naturally. This step is not reversible.
- Placement. The finished veneers are checked for fit and color, then bonded in place and adjusted to your bite.
Caring for veneers
Brush and floss as usual, keep up with regular cleanings, and avoid biting hard objects such as ice or pens. Veneers can last many years with good care, but they may eventually need to be replaced. No dental treatment is guaranteed to last forever.
Alternatives
Depending on your goals, teeth whitening, dental bonding, or Invisalign may achieve some of the same changes with less treatment. We will go over these options with you.
